Wayne Lachenmaier

Wayne A. Lachenmaier, August 5th, 1949#8212;October 17th, 2007 Wayne Lachenmaier passed away suddenly at his home in Bozeman during the evening hours of October 17, 2007. He was the son of Erwin and Eva Lachenmaier of Bozeman, MT. He graduated from Bozeman Senior High School and went on to become a student at Montana State University. Many of his favorite days were spent on the slopes of the Bridger Bowl Ski Area with his parents, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed being a member of the high school ski racing team and later became a member of the Bridger Bowl Association. He began his own business as a home builder in the Bozeman area and managed several of his own rental properties. He was an interested witness to the economic growth of the Bozeman area and the Gallatin Valley. Wayne was well-read, as he greatly enjoyed keeping up with worldly events and political news. In his later years, he developed an interest in genealogy. He made two trips to Europe to trace his family#8217;s roots and their eventual emigration to the United States. Wayne enjoyed the Erickson family reunions that consistently took place in August every four years at his mother#8217;s family homestead in Ryegate, MT. Wayne never missed one and loved catching up with his many relatives that were scattered across the United States. He was the gravy-maker at Thanksgiving and looked forward to receiving his yearly new wool shirt and leather work gloves at Christmas time. Wayne is survived by his three sisters, Sonja Berg of Belgrade, Irene Olson (Harold) of Purcellville, VA, Janis Eckert (Bruce) of Red Lodge, brother Ralph Lachenmaier (Dorothea) of Ridgecrest, CA. Wayne also took great interest in the lives of his eight nieces and nephews#8212;Courtenay Harmon (Rick) , Mark Lachenmaier (Jennifer), Todd Olson (Kimberley), Tana Olson, Tyler Olson, Jennifer Vranish (Dane), Kimberly Eckert, and Rebecca Kerscher (Geordy). Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the Bozeman Church of Christ Fellowship Center, at the corner of Kagy Boulevard and 19th Street.
