Warren Fagan

Warren Martin Fagan #8211; Montana Entrepreneur and Avid Outdoorsman #8211; passed away at his Bozeman residence on Thursday, October 1, 2009 after a five-year battle with cancer. Warren was born on July 6, 1943 in Manhattan, New York to Edward Patrick, Sr. and Terese Anne (Friedl) Fagan. Warren was proud of his Irish/Austrian New Yorker heritage and was raised in the Bronx. In 1957, the family moved to Scarsdale, New York where Warren graduated from Scarsdale High School. Warren attended Westchester Community College, before joining the Air Force for one year. Following his military service, he supported himself and his young family as a New York City cabby while attending school at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics in 1972. His favorite mathematical concept was that of infinity. While still in the Northeast, Warren worked as the Coordinator of the Office of Veteran's Affairs at Westchester Community College and as a Procurement Officer for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York City. After moving to Wilsall, Montana in 1988, Warren fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a cowboy and owned a small ranch and the Wilsall Hardware Store with his wife and young daughter. In 1993, he created the Barnwood Frames Company and sold his fine frames, handmade from hundred-year-old barnwood, to people all over the world. Warren enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and his horses. An avid outdoorsman and a New York State Hunter Safety Instructor, Warren held a passion for the wild and helped many enjoy it in safety. Warren hunted in the Northeast, the Western States and Alaska, and spent countless hours studying the terrain, the wildlife, and the craftsmanship of his hunting guns. Warren was also an avid photographer, leaving a legacy of landscape, wildlife, and portrait photography to be enjoyed by generations to come. He moved to Bozeman five years ago. Warren is survived by his elder brother, Edward Patrick Fagan, Jr., his younger sister, Lora Zembruski; his children, Kenneth Walter Fagan Cavallon, Keith Robert Fagan, and Abigail Anne Fagan; his grandchildren, Krystal Anne Elizabeth Fagan Cavallon Grimm and Keiffer Dylan Fagan Cavallon; and his great-grandson, Calibur Thomas Grimm. A funeral service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, Bozeman (2152 West Graf) on Thursday, October 8 at 10 am, with interment to follow at Wilsall Cemetery.
