Our sweet and much-loved mother and grandma died of sepsis on January 17, 2010, after a very brief illness. Virginia Preddy was a resident of Bozeman Lodge, moving here just last June to be near family. Born in Oklahoma in 1916, she and husband Ed raised their three daughters in Wichita, KS. After retirement, Virginia and Ed moved to Beaver Lake in northwest Arkansas. Ed died in 1992 and Virginia, ever the self-sufficient woman, chose to remain independently in Arkansas until her move to Bozeman. She acclimated easily, never complaining of snow nor cold. She enjoyed her new friends and loved family activities. We are tremendously saddened not to have her with us longer. Virginia was predeceased by Ed, her husband of 55 years, and by her daughter Donna Glessner in 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Caroline Pickens (Ed, McLean, VA) and Melody Harmata (Al, Bozeman, MT); grandchildren Stacy Hooper DenHerder (Chuck, San Diego, CA), Wendy Hooper Gwinner (Steve, Bozeman, MT), Geoffrey Pickens (Emiko, Saitama, Japan), and Mark Pickens, (Washington, DC); and great-grandchildren Cory and Carsten DenHerder, Mac and Elizabeth Gwinner, and Sol and Kaelen Pickens. A gathering in remembrance of Virginia will be held at Bozeman Lodge, 1547 N. Hunters Way, on Sunday, January 24, at 3 p.m. We welcome all of our friends.
