Virginia Thoresen was born October 6, 1923, in Wolf Point, MT to Trygve & Amanda Thoresen. Virginia, her parents, and her sister June moved to Chinook, MT where they grew sugar beets on their family farm. Virginia recalled fondly helping her dad on the farm. She learned to ski and enjoyed skiing with her sister throughout the Montana winters. When Virginia was young, she and her mother moved to Puyallup, WA. Later she lived with her sister, June who sewed beautiful quilts and brother-in-law, Charlie Woolley, a machinist, and their four children, Chuck, Nancy, Ernie, and Jerry. Virginia lived in Puyallup for over 60 years before moving with June and Charlie to Colville, WA after Charlie retired. She and Charlie moved to Three Forks, MT to live with Charlie’s son Chuck and daughter-in-law Teresa. Virginia enjoyed the last 13 years of her life at the Gallatin Rest Home in Bozeman, MT where she met many friends. She was very accomplished at crocheting and was known for her lovely doilies, which have been entered into many fairs and contests. Virginia was self-taught and loved crocheting and giving her doilies to friends. Pink was her favorite color, and she wore it as often as possible. She enjoyed walking, activities and being social. She always had a big smile for everyone who stopped by. Per Virginia’s wishes, she has been cremated and her ashes will be interred at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup, WA near her parents. Interment will take place later this summer. Donations in Virginia’s memory may be made to the Gallatin Rest Home Auxiliary.
