Tony Ray Yonkaitis, age 58, of Bozeman, MT passed away November 8, 2016 after fighting a valiant battle with numerous health ailments and ending many years of pain. Tony was born in Billings, MT on July 4, 1958 to parents John and Evelyn Yonkaitis, the third of four children. He was raised alongside siblings Dorie, Mark, and Carol. Tony was raised in Billings, MT but finished high school in Laurel, MT. Tony enlisted in the Army. In 1979, Tony began working for Northwest Airlines until he retired in 1999. Tony met his wife Kathy and the two were married Sept. 1, 1978 in Billings, MT. Together they had one daughter, Rená Marie Yonkaitis, who was the center of Tony’s world. Tony loved kids, animals, and family times spent together. Kids gravitated towards Tony’s gentle and playful demeanor. He loved and was loved by all who knew him.
Tony enjoyed rafting, fishing, animals, four-wheeling, and candy. He built his own home on Bozeman Hill and was skilled in many of his endeavors. Tony was a devoted son, a wonderful husband, a devoted father, a caring brother, and a valued friend.
Tony is preceded in death by nephew Ritche Severin and Nina M. Severin. He is survived by parents John and Evelyn Yonkaitis of Arlington, OR; wife Kathy Yonkaitis of Bozeman, MT; daughter Rená Yonkaitis of Fridley, MN; sister Carol (Rod) Hedges of Denver, CO; sister Dorie (Gerald) Robertas of Williston, ND; brother Mark (Sheri) Yonkaitis of Gold Bar, WA; brother-in-law Richard (Penny) Severin of Blackfoor, ID; brother-in-law Roy (Patty) Severin of Helena, MT; 11 nieces and nephews; and 27 great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Tony’s Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 14th at Dahl Funeral Chapel followed by a Reception. Donations may be made in Tony’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
