Susan Lynn Eckert

September 19, 1946 — May 27, 2017

Susan L. Eckert passed away May 27, 2017, peacefully at home. After serving in the Peace Corp, Susan settled in Evanston, Illinois where in the early 1980’s she found her vocation organizing and leading local adventure travel for women over 30. This was the beginning of what became AdventureWomen (http://www.adventurewomen.com/blog/article/meet-susan-eckert-president-and-founder-of-adventurewomen-inc/). Susan grew her business by extending her adventures all across the US and then around the world. She fell in love with Montana, and in 1994 made Bozeman her home.

Among her wide range of interests Susan enjoyed skiing, cooking, riding her Icelandic ponies, collecting, and photography.

Susan approached her illness with the same fearlessness she did her life. Her loss is deeply felt not only by her family but by the many devoted friends whom she dearly loved. Her family asks that Susan’s dearest friends celebrate her life, spirit, and memory in ways most meaningful to them.

Susan is survived by her brother Steve and sister Jane. She was a devoted aunt to Robyn, Lauren, Don, Brian and the late Brett, and a loving “Montana Nana” to her seven grand nieces and nephews.

Donations in Susan Eckert’s memory can be made to the Bozeman Symphony (http://www.bozemansymphony.org/support); Make a Wish (http://montana.wish.org); Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter (http://www.heartofthevalleyshelter.org); and Cancer Support Community, Bozeman (http://www.cancersupportmontana.org/locations/bozeman/).
