Steve John Toohey

March 27, 1952 — May 2, 2015

Steven John Toohey Passed away in his home Saturday May 2, 2015. Steve was born March 27, 1952 to Margret and James Toohey, the third of five children. Steve was an amazing father, great friend, hard worker, creative artist, rancher, and master woodworker. Steve lived in the Gallatin Valley his entire life working and living on his family’s ranch. Steve is a fourth generation rancher. Working on the ranch with his brother Jeff. Steve Graduated with honors from Montana State University with a bachelor’s of science in 1974. Steve was a very genuine man and most of all, a devoted husband and loving father. It was well known that if he wasn't seen out on the ranch working, he could be found in his shop crafting something from wood for his loved ones and friends. Steve was a very kindhearted man and a very devoted husband to his wife Debbie and his three girls, Andrea, Kayla and Stephanie. Steve was a very kindhearted loving husband to his beautiful wife Debbie. Steve met Debbie Lorraine Terry in 1980. The moment he saw her he said “that is the girl I’m going to marry.” He married his true love and soul mate on October 10th 1981. The happy couple's first born was Andrea Marie Toohey. Andrea was born May 5th 1983, she was Daddy's girl and didn't mind getting dirty. Andrea grew into an amazing mother to three handsome little boys. She ended up having twins named Aidan Toohey age 8, Will Toohey age 8, and their younger brother Ethan Quinn Steven Toohey age 5. Andrea unexpectedly became a single mother and her father Steve, without a thought, made his grandsons his priority. From the beginning Steve became the strongest male influence in his grandkids lives. Steve's grandsons believe their grandfather is their 'Hero' and that will never change. Steve and Debbie’s second eldest is Kayla Anna Toohey born April 13th 1985. Kayla and her father had a good relationship. Steve was always quizzing Kayla on the history of the NY Yankees. They always seemed to come together for game time. It was something that always brought them closer together. Stephanie was Steve and Debbie’s youngest daughter. Stephanie was the brightest shining star with the biggest smile. She was extremely close to her father and mother. Stephanie got married to her soul mate Cody Armknect December 20th 2008. Often you would catch glimpses of her and Steve having a little personal joke between both of them. Just a father daughter bonding moment where Steve really showed his love. He did that often with all of his girls, and later the grandkids. Stephanie lost her fight to cancer Feb, 1, 2009. Steve is preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Jim Toohey, Sister Susan, His beautiful daughter Stephanie Jane Toohey Armknect. And numerous aunt and uncles.
