Sharon Dee Shields, 70, of Belgrade, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014. She was born January 11, 1944 in Hawthorne, CA to Clayton and Mildred (Loessin) Laing. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to the Hammer-Sisseton area of South Dakota, where Sharon grew up. She graduated from West Fargo High School with honors in 1962. After moving to the Gallatin Valley in the early 1960s she worked at Idaho Pole and then for Edsall Contruction Co. of Bozeman for 35 years. She married Lavern E. “Skip” Shields on July 1, 1967 in Bozeman. Sharon was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Belgrade. Her hobbies included goose and duck hunting, sledding, photography, horses, painting, quilting. She especially loved having fun with her grandchildren and always had time to play a game. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by: her husband Lavern “Skip” Shields of Belgrade; children Clinton (Shirley) Shields of Belgrade, Angela (Jim) Pierce of Belgrade, Clayton Shields of Glendive, Nichole (Jeff) Roffler of Grassy Butte, ND; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Belgrade.
