Ruthanne Shilling, 66, of Bozeman, passed away September 16, 2014. She was born on March 24, 1948 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Willard and Helen Craft. Ruthanne was raised in Jackson, Michigan. She graduated from High School in Jackson. She received her Medical Assistants Certificate at San Jose State. In her life she lived in Jackson, Michigan, Midway Island, Ventura, California, San Jose California, and Bozeman, Montana She worked at San Jose State in the College of Medicine and after moving to Bozeman she worked for the Chemical Engineering Department at Montana State University and for 25 years at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. In High School she sang in the school choir and played the Coronet. In the summer of her junior year of high school she attended Meadow Brook School of Music, where she sang under the direction of Robert Shaw and met Isaac Stern. Later she was active in Church Choir and enjoyed crafts, was a seamstress, enjoyed gardening, video games, and her pets. She also hunted deer and antelope. Among other things she is remembered for her humor, quick wit and correct grammar. Ruthanne was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Willard “Bill” Leahman Craft Jr. She is survived by her children; David Shilling and Robert (Jennifer) Shilling all of Bozeman, siblings; Mary Martin of Jackson, Michigan, Jane Craft of Sacramento, California and Margaret Craft of Anaconda, Montana and six grandchildren.
