Ronald Robert Glock

Ronald Robert Glock, 82, of Bozeman, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015. He was born to Pastor Conrad and Hilda (Brodhagen) Glock on September 28, 1932 in Appleton, Minnesota.

The family moved to Bonduel, Wisconsin in 1936. Ron attended ST. Paul Parochial School in Bonduel through 8th grade, and graduated from high school in Bonduel. Ron attended the University of Wisconsin for three years. Ron enrolled in the United States Air Force ROTC program; he then left for pilot training in Bainbridge, Georgia, finishing at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona.

Ron served with the 44th Fighter Squadron in Okinawa, flying F86’s. Later Ron was assigned to Laredo Air force Base in Texas, teaching flying, concentrating on teaching NATO student pilots. Ron was qualified and applied for Astronaut training, but he was too tall, the maximum height at the time was 5’10”.

In 1959 Ron married Bonnie Peterson, a teacher in the local school in Laredo. There were married in her home town of Bradley, South Dakota. The couple returned to Laredo. Ron and Bonnie both attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.

Ron and Bonnie moved to Washington D.C. where Ron was assigned to the Defenses Intelligence Agency for four years. Ron was assigned to Hawaii where Ron and Bonnie spent another four years. Ron was also temporarily assigned to the 7th Air Force Headquarters in Saigon, where he worked on software of Seek Data II. He was written up in the Air Force Magazine for his work on the Frag Prep Programs. It was a major step toward real time, push button warfare. Upon his return to Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii, Ron was awarded the Air Force Commendation medal for meritorious service from General Kruzal.

They returned to Texas where Ron enrolled in classes at Texas A&M in College Station. Ron received a BS in Math and Bonnie a BS in Education. Following graduation they returned to Washington D.C. and Ron was again assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency for three more years.

Having completed twenty one years in the Air Force, Ron and Bonnie selected Bozeman, Montana in which to retire.

In Bozeman Ron taught math and computer science at Montana State University, he later worked at the Bozeman Job Service as a Veterans Representative. He held various positions relating to Military service including President of both local and state Air Force Associations. He was awarded the Medal of Merit from the Air Force Association as Soldier Citizen of the year in 1990.

In their retirement years in Bozeman, Ron and Bonnie traveled to Europe several times locating their family roots in Norway and Germany.

Ron and Bonnie were also active members at Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman.

Ron and Bonnie where members of the Sons of Norway in Bozeman, after Ron’s retirement they danced with the Uff Da Dancers, one of the main dance groups who performed at the International Bazaar at Montana State University.



The Glock’s loved dogs and owned poodles for many years, ending up with 3 Bichon Frise, who have kept them in line with their “Iron Paws”.

Visitation Tuesday from 3 to 5 pm At Dahl Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman.

Burial will be held at a later date at the Prairie Hill Cemetery in Bradley, South Dakota.
