Ronald Eugene Nott, age 65, of Bozeman, Montana, passed unexpectedly December 9, 2024, at his home.
Ronald was born March 4, 1959, in Fremont, Nebraska, to Gene and Marian Nott. He was a confirmed (1974) member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Ron graduated from Fremont High School in 1977, then was employed at Jayhawk Box in Fremont for a year. He and a friend then traveled to Dillon, Montana, to enroll at Western Montana State College. Ron eventually transferred to Montana State University in Bozeman, where he graduated with honors in 1986. While in college, Ron worked in the summers for Rocky Mountain Concrete and after college continued that work for several years, earning the position of foreman of the form setting crew. Ron continued to work in the concrete construction area until a pedestrian/auto accident in 2014 would limit his physical work activities. He spent 3 months in a Billings hospital recovering from injuries.
Ron's hobbies included writing music. playing his guitar, and tying flies for use in trout fishing. He fished all of the rivers in the Bozeman area and advocated for the protection of all of the Montana wildlife. Ron was recognized for an article he had written which was published in a national trout fishing magazine.
Ronald is survived by his children, Jackson Nott, of Bozeman, and Rose Nott, of Helena, MT; his parents, Gene and Marian Nott, of Fremont, NE; his grandson, Willow Nott, of Bozeman; a brother, Roger, and friend Mary, of St. Charles, MO; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be 11am, Monday, January 20, 2025 at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Burial will be in the Hooper Cemetery. Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
