Ronald Allen Shockley, 65, of Manhattan passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011. He was born April 20, 1946 in Waukesha, Wisconsin to Harold and Irene (Caudill) Shockley. Ron was raised and educated in Waukesha and married Donna Wittmann on July 11, 1964. Ron and Donna moved to Montana in the fall of 1983 and their love for the outdoors persuaded them to live in Bozeman then Ennis and finally they moved to Manhattan in 1998. An avid outdoorsman with natural artistic abilities, Ron was well known for his taxidermy, fly tying and gun building skills. He had some of his taxidermy work showcased at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Ron was known for his classic Atlantic salmon tying skills. He also very much enjoyed building black powder guns and bows. Up until recently Ron still enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing the guitar. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Donna; sons Mike (Carol) of Livingston and Matt of Manhattan; sister Linda Valentine of Oconomoc, Wisconsin; granddaughter Bridgette of Belgrade; grandson Brandon of Belgrade; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Dahl Funeral Chapel with a reception to follow. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.dahlcares.com
