Roger D. Johnson, 87, of Belgrade, MT, passed August 22, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Roger was born March 3, 1937, in Bozeman, the oldest of two children to Melvin and Bessie (Briggs) Johnson. He attended local schools, graduating high school in 1954. Roger joined the Navy in October of the same year and served honorably for eight years. Roger married Arlene Ricci in 1958 in Livingston, MT. They made their home in Bozeman where they raised three children. Roger joined his father and uncle in the construction trades for a few years before starting his 50-year career as an over the road truck driver, logging over 7 million miles and training many new drivers. When Roger wasn’t driving, which wasn’t often, he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hunting, and other outdoor activities.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Arlene; his daughter, Becky; and sister, Gail. He is survived by his sons, Steve (Kristy) and Eric (Debi) Johnson; son-in-law, Matt; as well as nine grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will take place Friday, September 6, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 220 W. Main, Bozeman. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www. dahlcares.com.
