Robert 'Bob' Leonard Tatarka

Robert 'Bob' Leonard Tatarka, 85, of Bozeman peacefully passed away at his home on May 21, 2015. Bob was born along with his twin sister Elizabeth 'Bette' in Great Falls Montana, to John and Rose Tatarka. He was raised primarily in the Gallatin Valley on the family dairy farm and attended Holy Rosary Catholic School first through 12th grades. He served our country in the US Army. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a lineman and cable splicer around Montana and the west until his retirement. Bob married Norma A. Corey, on June 2, 1956 at St. John's Catholic Church in Baker, Montana. June 2 would have been their 59th anniversary. Together Bob and Norma raised eight children. Bob was a steward of the land and enjoyed farming, gardening and woodworking. Relaxing on the porch with Norma, family and friends, while looking at the beautiful mountains of the Gallatin Valley were some of his favorite times. In later years, Norma and Bob did some traveling outside the country and also visited children and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Rose; brothers Anthony 'Tony' and John; sisters Rose Van Horn and Johanna Stanley; parents-in-laws, Ray Corey and Anastasia Corey, Brother-in-laws Jim Stanley, Don Tiano, Edward Currie, Henry Van Horn; sister-in-law Lona Corey; nephew Aaron Corey and an infant son. Survivors include his wife Norma; 8 children Cheryl (Smokey) Ott of Bozeman, MT, Steve (Margaret) Tatarka of Kansas City, MO, Lori (Tim) Zeiser of Frenchtown, MT, Gregory (Dawn) Tatarka of Jacksonville, Fl, Teresa (Gary) Klinkhammer of Mahnomen, MN, David (Michelle) Tatarka of Spokane, WA, Bernadette (Dan) Keeler of Germany, and Molly (Alessandro) Rigutto of Sterling, AK; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; siblings Twin Sister Bette Currie of Seattle, WA, Mary Tiano of Gardnerville, NV, Raymond (Carolyn) Tatarka of Bozeman, MT and William (Margie) Tatarka of Bozeman, MT; Veronica (John) Vaught of Willington, NV; sister-in-laws Marge and Peg Tatarka, both of Billings, MT; Marlene (Denzil) Young of Minneapolis, MN; James Corey of Kennewick, WA; Howard (Iris) Corey of Polson, MT; Patrick (Sharrel) Corey of Scottsdale, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews and Jake. A Rosary will be said at 5:30, Thursday, June 25, at Dahl Funeral Chapel, followed by a Vigil service at 6:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 am, Friday, June 26, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, interment of the urn to follow at Sunset Hills Columbarium.
