Richard Zenos Winget passed away quietly on March 6, 2024. He was born in Panguitch, Utah, on May 14, 1950. In 1954 his family moved to Henderson, NV. He grew up there and was very proud to have graduated as valedictorian from Basic High School in 1968.
He joined the Clark County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy in 1973. The Department merged with the Las Vegas Police Department and became the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Richard served in Metro until 2003, when he retired as Undersheriff to Sheriff Jerry Keller. Richard was very proud to work for Metro and loved his community and co-workers. He earned his bachelor’s degree from UNLV in 1986. After his retirement he was appointed United States Marshall for the District of Nevada where he served for 2 years. In 2004 he retired and moved to Bozeman, MT. He loved the outdoor life in Montana. He was a ski host at Bridger Bowl, an active member of 5 Rivers ATV club, Back Country Horseman, and St. James Episcopal Church.
Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy; brothers, Jack and Alan; sons, Rich (Jessica), Robbie (Alana), and James (Rachel); two grandsons, Richie and Elias; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Zenos and Grace Winget, and his brother, Lynford
(Benita).
