Richard Harm Begeman

July 17, 1933 — January 6, 2014

Richard (Dick) Harm Begeman passed away January 6, 2014. He was born July 17, 1933 in Steele, ND to Dick and Myrtle (Brenden) Begeman. At an early age the family moved to Bismarck, ND. Dick graduated from Bismarck High School in 1951. He attended colleges studying Forestry and Wildlife Management in North Dakota, Utah and Montana. Dick served our country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. Dick married Karen Ann Sherman in Bozeman, MT in 1958. The couple had five children and later divorced. Dick worked for many years as a Park Ranger in Teddy Roosevelt National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. He then transferred to the United States Customs Department and worked as a Customs Agent in Arizona and North Dakota. Dick moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1984 and married Yvonne (Willard) Thomsen. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Dick was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers; a daughter; and infant son. He is survived by: his wife Yvonne of Manhattan, Montana; son Dirk Begeman, daughter Loraine (Dave) Jensen, and daughter Jolene (Jay) Parent all of Arizona; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; five step-daughters; two step-sons; twelve step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be held at a later date in North Dakota. A memorial service for Dick will be held in the Montana Room of Parkhaven Retirement & Assisted Living Center at 3:00 PM on January 18th, 2014.
