Richard 'Dick' Joseph Morgan

Richard “Dick” Joseph Morgan passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the age of 83. Dick was born on May 15, 1930 in Bozeman to long-time Gallatin Valley residents Frank and Mayme (Bauman) Morgan. He attended Holy Rosary School first through twelfth grade and Montana State College, graduating with a degree in Range Science in 1952. Dick married Carolyn (Carrie) Walker on June 4, 1953 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Together they raised their family and ranched at the north end of the Bridger Mountains. Dick was blessed to be able to live life the way he wanted. Ranching was in his blood. From running a band of sheep in the mountains to spring calving, he loved it all. Dick was a member of the Pass Creek School Board for many years, Director of the Farmers Canal, Gallatin Beef Producers (past president and Cattleman of the year in 1978), Elks Club, Sigma Chi Fraternity, Gallatin Pioneers, Republican Central Committee and Pass Creek Community Center Chairman. Dick was preceded in death by: his parents, Frank and Mayme; brothers Horace and Mick; and sister Pat. He is survived by: his wife, Carrie; children Marilee (Doug) Langohr, Wade and daughter Rachel, and Craig and son Nolan (Meghan). Visitation will be held at 2:30pm followed by a vigil service at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Parish. Interment to follow at the Morgan Cemetery.
