Richard David Williams

Richard David Williams was born Nov. 13, 1941 in Salt Lake City.



He was a sickly baby who grew into a strong, tall man. He was an Eagle Scout who later served 4 years in the US Air Force. He loved to learn, earning a BS, Masters, and a Ph.D. in Education. His occupation took him from Alberta, to Colorado, to Montana.



He was a humanitarian who enjoyed teaching and instructing people. He was eager to help and gave of his time selflessly. But first and foremost he was a father who loved to teach his children about life.



His hobbies included horseback riding, building projects, and preparing and eating decadent meals.



But his passions were listening to music, visiting with friends and neighbors (he was often seen sitting in front of his house chatting with neighbors), and joking and teasing everyone—especially his children! He was always working his way into their hearts though humor. He never missed a chance to pull a prank!



Richard was called home on May 27, 2018 at his home in Bozeman at age 76. He will be missed by all who knew him.



He was preceded in his death by his parents LaMarr Harmon Williams and Ruth Edna Thompson Williams, his brother Robert LaMarr Williams, his son Ronald LaMarr Williams, and grandson Kaileb Cole Williams.



He is survived by his wife, Betty Eloise Williams, daughter Rhenon Annette Williams, son-in-law Ely Williams, daughter-in-law Galadriel Elisha Williams, grandchildren Hunter Michael Williams, Matthew Ray Williams, Addison Kate Williams, and Taylee Rhenon Maughan, sisters Kathy Dell and Ruthann Safford and families, and sister-in-law Marie Williams.
