Raymond Madison Wright, Jr.

Ray Wright of Tallahassee, FL passed away at the age of 86 on September 14, 2023, in Bozeman, MT. He was born on January 6, 1937, in Cranston, RI, the son of Raymond M. Wright, Sr. and Marjorie R. Wright. He married his lovely wife Irmgard K. Wright on August 16, 1958, in Zweibrucken, Germany while serving in the United States Air Force.


He is preceded in death by his wife, Irmgard. Surviving are his daughter Christina M. Russell (Les) of Monroe, GA; and sons Michael P. Wright (Debra) of Port St. Lucie, FL; Jeffrey A. Wright (Terry) of Glenmoore, PA; Steven T. Wright (Kristen) of Chester Springs, PA; and Raymond M. Wright III, MD (Kelly) of Bozeman, MT.


Also surviving are his siblings; Joan M. Dupre (Eugene) of Attleboro, MA; Ann C. Tomeo of North Attleboro, MA; Kara M. Nestell of Rehoboth, MA. Deceased siblings include Lori J. Pack, Winston-Salem, NC; Timothy B. Wright, Pawtucket RI; Paul S. Sackett, Citrus Heights, CA; Susan P. Buie, Lenoir, NC.


Ray and Irmgard were blessed with 11 beautiful and loving grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Michelle Cunningham (Cameron), Alysia, Allison, Benjamin, Thomas, Collin, and Owen Wright, Kendra Ponte and Keaton, Haley, and Paul Russell; great-granddaughter Denver Cunningham.


After attending two years at Attleboro (MA) High School, Ray and family moved to Winston-Salem, NC where he attended and graduated in 1955 from James A. Gray High School. He participated in varsity sports of football, basketball, and golf. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the USAF where he acquired the necessary training and experience to join IBM. His business career progressed to other computer services organizations where he held operations and sales management positions. After a 46-year career, he retired in June 2005 as Executive Vice President/COO with United Solutions, Inc. located in Tallahassee, FL.


His retirement years included volunteering with several Tallahassee-based organizations including the American Red Cross, FL Dept. of Elder Affairs, Tallahassee VA Clinic and the Disabled American Veterans, Tallahassee Chapter 5 where he served as a Veterans Service Officer and Treasurer.


Funeral services are planned with assistance from Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service, Bozeman, MT, and Internment will be at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL on Friday, October 27 at 1 p.m.
