Phoebe Henry Anderson, 96, of Bozeman, Montana passed away March 8, 2009. Phoebe was born January 17, 1913 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to James and Emma Henry. Her birth surprised Emma, who was visiting her parents in Canada. The Henry family lived in Hettinger, North Dakota until Mr. Henry#8217;s untimely death. Emma moved with her seven children to Pocatello, Idaho to be near family. She purchased a boarding house, rented out rooms, baked and sold bread, and raised her children. Phoebe spent her young life in Pocatello, where she graduated high school. She worked for two years to save the $50 tuition for nursing school. She moved to Nampa, Idaho and entered Mercy Hospital's program. There was more than an RN degree in Nampa. She met and married Marshall O. Anderson on September 11, 1936. Always athletic, Phoebe played basketball on a championship team in high school. Later, she became an exceptional bowler and golfer. She was proud of her Irish heritage, but most of all she loved her family. Her faith was the beacon that guided her life. Daily, she offered many prayers for family and friends and prayed the Rosary. Always loyal to Mercy Hospital and the Sisters of Mercy, she joined the auxiliary as a volunteer. In November of 2005, Phoebe moved to Montana to be near family. Phoebe was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall, her daughter, Margaret Elizabeth (Betty) Seelig, a great-grandson, and her six siblings. Survivors include her sons, Michael (Jeannie) Anderson of Belgrade, MT, James (Kim-Anh) Anderson of San Diego, CA, and Robert Anderson of Austin, TX, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
