Patrick Dean Nolan

February 6, 1931 — November 4, 2015

Patrick Dean Nolan passed away peacefully at home in Montana surrounded by family on No- vember 4, 2015. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 6, 1931. Pat grew up in Elkhart, Indiana. His parents, Guy Eugene Nolan and Geneva Troupe Nolan ran a grocery store with the help of Pat and his older brothers, Benne and Bill. Pat spent his childhood at the family home on Heaton Lake. He was an avid outdoorsman even as a boy. He trapped, fished, and hunted his way into manhood. After graduating from Elkhart High School he joined the Air Force and served in the Medical Corps at Moses Lake, Washington during the Korean War. Pat graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Business in 1959.

He met Arlene Goulette from the upper peninsula of Michigan during his service. They were married in Iron Mountain Michigan in January 1956. They were blessed with five children: Lor- na Holcomb (Doug - deceased); Missoula, MT; Curtis Nolan (Julie),Willcox, AZ; Maureen Serra- no (Lawrence), Wickenburg, AZ; Michael Nolan, Albuquerque, NM; and Christopher Nolan (de- ceased). Pat and Arlene raised their family in Arizona. He was a Real Estate Appraiser who founded and was president of Real Estate Science Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona.

He later met Eleanor Caswell Bean (Ellie), a widow with three children of her own: Glen Bean, Minnetonka, MN; Elizabeth (Libby) Bean, Phoenix, AZ; and Karen Bean, Arcadia IN. Pat and Ellie were married March 17, 1982. During their marriage, Pat and Ellie bought and oper- ated the RJ cattle ranch in Globe, Arizona. They traveled extensively and retired to Big Sky, Montana. In 1998 they moved to their current home in Gallatin Gateway, Montana, and spend the winters in Wickenburg, Arizona.

Pat was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. He founded the Scottsdale and Big Sky Chapters of Ducks Unlimited. He had a mischievous but subtle sense of humor, which he maintained throughout his life. Although he had Multiple Sclerosis(MS), it was obvious to everyone who knew him, that he worked hard to remain active and lived a joyful life. He will be missed by his many friends from all over the world.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents; his bothers, his infant son Christopher, and his first wife Arlene. He is survived by his wife (Ellie), his four children (Lorna, Curtis, Maureen, Michael), his three step children (Glen, Libby, Karen), 15 grandchildren, and 21 great grand- children.
