Norma Petersen

Norma passed away on Tuesday evening January 27, 2009. Norma J. Petersen was born on September 9, 1930 in Bozeman, MT, the daughter of Glen and Dorthea Hardy. She was raised in the Gallatin Valley and attended schools in Bozeman. On August 29, 1949 she was united in marriage with H.R. (Bob) Petersen in Butte, MT. Following their wedding they returned to Bozeman to raise their family. Bob and Norma recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed many summers at their second home at Canyon Ferry Lake spent boating and fishing with family and friends. Norma was known for her wonderful cooking and baking skills, and welcoming friends to her home for conversation and laughter. She was a recipient of the #8220;Unsung Hero Award#8221; for her community service and devotion to her friends at Mountain View Rehabilitation Center. At the center she was known as the #8220;cookie lady.#8221; Norma took great pride in attending to her home, family and friends. She is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Marlyn (Dan) Madison, daughter Val (Lee) Hedglin, daughter Diana Petersen, daughter Tracey Petersen, all of Bozeman, and her brother Cliff Hardy of Belgrade, in addition to her numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Elmer, grandson Robert #8220;Bub#8221; Murphy, and grandson Matthew Madison. At Norma#8217;s request no services are planned.
