Nancy Neff Wilshire, 93, of Fallbrook, CA and Bozeman, MT, passed away on December 3rd peacefully, and in her home, after a slow, beautiful and graceful progression into old age. She smiled and laughed till the end.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, William Mann Wilshire, III and sister-in-law, Nancy Vail of New Jersey. She is survived by her brother, Robert Neff, Sr. and family of New Jersey; sisters-in-law Peggy Bozzo and family of New Jersey and Emily Wilshire and family of Miami, FL; children, Virginia Carey Wilshire, husband Dana, Thomas Neff Wilshire, wife Jessica and William Mann Wilshire, IV, wife Jennifer, all of Montana and four amazing grandchildren, Callan, William, Greyson and Ryder, who were her joy.
Nancy was born in Orange, NJ in 1931, and attended Bairds Women’s School and then Smith College in Boston receiving a degree in Liberal Arts and History. She then married William Mann Wilshire, III. They lived in Schenectady, NY, Barrington, lL and Fallbrook, CA, until Bill’s death. She then moved to Bozeman to be with her family.
Nancy was a beloved storyteller, and lived a rich life full of amazing people. One of her favorite pastimes was sharing stories of her family’s colorful political and civic history with her children and grandchildren, always with a sharp wit and insight.
Always giving of her time, Nancy was involved with the Red Cross, the Fallbrook Garden Club, church activities and the PEO club. She loved all dogs, all flowers, all birds and most people. Nancy always had a kind word for anyone she met, always looking for humor and, on the bright side, regardless of what she was facing in her own life.
Nancy will be remembered forever as a happy, funny, calm and wise friend to all and a beautiful woman, wife, sister, mother and grandmother.
A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held in the spring. As requested her ashes will be spread in the wilds of Montana.
