Mildred 'Mimmie' Weidlich

October 29, 1919 — March 6, 2011

Mildred #8220;Mimmie#8221; Weidlich died at the Gallatin Rest Home on Sunday morning, March 6, 2011. She was born in Springfield, Mass. on October 29, 1919. Mimmie had an Associate Degree in Business from American International University in Springfield. She worked for a number of businesses as a book keeper and finished her career as an Executive Secretary at the Fernald State School for DD adults. At the Fernald School Mimmie was well known for creating musical and comedy shows with the DD adults. The shows traveled all over Massachusetts to everyone#8217;s delight. After retiring to Holiday, Fla., her musical creativity continued directing a large chorus of retirees. She was a talented stand-up comic! As her health and abilities declined, Gallatin Rest Home staff was amused and at her fine sense of humor, and that she always knew ALL the words to any song. While retired in Florida, she acquired her amateur radio license at the Expert level and had a circle of friends she communicated with locally and internationally. She ran a radio net. Mimmie was an avid knitter with about 55 well-made sweaters still in the family along with cherished detailed throws. Her great grandchildren are wearing some of the sweaters made when her own children were young. Mimmie was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Henry K. Weidlich, who died in February 2001. She was also predeceased by her brother Lawrence and sister Marie. She is survived by her son Wayne H. Weidlich and his wife Sandy of Michigan, their two children and Mimmie#8217;s four great grandchildren. She is also survived by daughter Laurie Kuntz and husband Bernie of Bozeman. To quote a recent note from New England, #8220;We both have some wonderful memories of your Mom. Her smile was infectious, her laugh contagious and the love and generosity she always showed to everyone around her made her one special lady!#8221; Contributions can be made to the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter, PO Box 11390, Bozeman, MT 59719. Mimmie loved all our dogs! At Mimmie#8217;s request, no services are planned.
