Michele C. Tuchscherer

June 1, 1947 — November 25, 2017

Michele C. Tuchscherer died peacefully on November 25, 2017, surrounded by her husband and children. Ever the hostess, she had family and friends over for a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration the evening before passing unexpectedly. Spirits were high and flowing and the food and friendship was spectacular.

Michele was born June 1, 1947, in Miles City, MT. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from St. Mary’s University in Winona, MN, and a Masters in Education from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. Michele married Wisconsin native, H. James Tuchscherer, on May 29, 1971. Michele would say they raised three slightly above-average children in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, at their cottage on Lake Petenwell, in and around the Northwoods of Wisconsin and across Montana. Jim and Michele were happily married for nearly 47 years.

Michele devoted her life to the advocacy and education of children. A tireless teacher, coach and mentor, Michele taught middle school English for over three decades, thus proving she is braver than most. After she retired from teaching and Jim retired from the practice of law, they returned home to Montana to celebrate Big Sky country with their children and grandchildren.

Michele is survived by her husband, son Josh (Sara) Tuchscherer and their children Sam and Eli, son H. Jess (Kaya) Tuchscherer, and daughter Katey (Charley) Tuchscherer‐Franklin and their children Zeke, Konrad, and Willamena. In addition she is survived by her mother-in‐law, Dorothy Tuchscherer, her brother and sister, brothers and sisters in‐law, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and countless friends all of whom she loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers or a memorial, please honor Michele’s passion: buy a child a book and take the time to teach them to love reading
