Michael Clyde Leonard of Bozeman, formerly of Denver, CO, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013. He was born November 6, 1955 in Denver, CO to Lyle and Margaret (Steele) Leonard. Mike attended Denver public schools and starting playing the drums at the age of nine. He started his first band and musician life at the age of 16. One of his favorite things to do was to teach drums to children, which he did in both the Denver and Bozeman areas. Mike loved to go fishing, especially at Hyalite Lake. He also loved food and cooking for his family. Mike was well known at the dialysis unit at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital for his kindness and loving relationships with the nursing staff and other patients. The family would like to thank the nurses, patients and neighbors for their love, kindness and top-notch service to their beloved Mike over the past eight years. Mike was preceded in death by: his parents and step-brothers Adron and Eldon Cahill. He is survived by: his son Joshua Leonard of Hoboken, NJ; daughter Molly (Josh) Cherry of Cottonwood, AZ; sister Melissa (Glen) Kellogg of Bozeman; brother David Leonard of Nevada; brother Dan Yount of Arvada, CO; grandson Winter Cherry of Cottonwood, AZ; and step-sister Linda Cahill of Minnesota. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Denver, CO. Memorials may be made in Mike’s name to the fund set up at Big Sky Western Bank for the benefit of the patients of Fresenius Medical Care in Bozeman.
