Mary Elizabeth Cure passed away peacefully at home on November, 24, 2010 at the tender age of 98. She had a life-long relationship with her savior and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Rosary was her constant companion and support. She was born in Kayuga, Wisconsin on July 13, 1912 to John A. and Frances H. (Hoffman) Morgan. She moved to Miles City at the age of 16 and graduated from Custer County High School in 1932. Mary earned a Teaching Degree from Dillon Normal College and Degree in Business from Great Falls Business College. During the Depression, Mary taught grade school and worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Miles City and Billings, First National Bank in Great Falls, Lexington Mining Co. and the Socony Vacuum Co. in Neihart. Mary met Orin Cure in Malta in 1940 and enjoyed their first date on St. Patrick#8217;s Day. Their relationship blossomed and the couple was married in Great Falls at Holy Family Church on August 1, 1942. Mary nurtured a family of five. She preferred outdoor activities for her family following studies. She was actively involved in school activities with all her children. Mary always had a big kiss and hug for all; she was a mentor, confidant and nurturer to her family as well as to the neighborhood children. In 1952, Mary was instrumental in finding the location and designing the cabin near Lincoln where she would spend many summers with family and friends. Mary was known by many as #8220;Down-the-Middle-Mary#8221; on the golf course. A competitive spirit, she won #8220;Longest Putt#8221; in the Resurrection Parish Golf Tourney in 2009 at the age of 97. Her family has many fond memories with Mom golfing#8230;#8230;.her advice was priceless. Perhaps a little known fact, Mary took up skiing with her two youngest sons when she was 50 years old. She ventured into x-country skiing in search of Christmas Trees as well as midnight skiing under the full moon with her sons at the cabin. She also tried her hand at snowshoeing. After hanging up her downhill skis, she took up golfing at the age of 70. She always enjoyed her golf leagues whether it was with the girls in Great Falls (Speck Ladies League and Anaconda Hills Ladies League) or in Bozeman with the Bridger Babes. In her 90s, she still felt quite at home with her grandchildren on a country pond in a kayak. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Orin Cure and the beloved mother of: Margaret Ann Quan (Arlen) of Olympia, WA; Jan P. Cure of Colorado Springs, CO; Betty Cure Wiser (Lee) of Bozeman; Jerome R. Cure of Portland, OR; and Robert A. Cure (Mary) of Bloomington, MN. She is the beloved sister of Betty Sherberg of Bremerton, WA and the late Evelyn Dickson. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A Rosary and Vigil will take place at 7 PM on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will take place at 10 AM on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Resurrection Parish, 1725 S. 11th in Bozeman, with a reception to follow. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet cemetery in Great Falls, MT on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 1 PM with a reception to follow at 1:30 PM at Great Falls Central High School.
