Leaving us to return to her Heavenly home, Mary Alice Herem Schott passed unexpectedly from this earth on Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Bozeman, MT. Mary Alice was born on August 1, 1960, at Billings Deaconess Hospital to C. Oliver and Sarah Ann (Kennison) Herem. She grew up on the family ranch south of Absarokee, attended Absarokee public schools, and graduated as valedictorian from Absarokee High School in May 1979. She earned her BS in biology from Montana State University in June 1983; then graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Montana in June 1987. Following graduation, she worked in pharmacies in Red Lodge, Bozeman, and for nearly ten years at Matovich IGA pharmacy in Columbus. She and her husband owned and operated a drugstore in White Sulphur Springs before returning to Bozeman in 2004. At the time of her death, she was employed at Western Drug in Livingston. Mary Alice met her future husband Archie Schott at a Jazzercise class in Columbus, and they were married in Laurel on June 15, 1991. They were sealed for time and all eternity on July 20, 1991, in the Idaho Falls temple in Idaho Falls, ID. A daughter Sarah Ann was born to them on May 16, 1992, with a second daughter Denise Mae being born on September 14, 2000. Mary Alice loved being with her husband and daughters on hunting, fishing, and camping trips and singing #8220;angel#8221; lullabies to her daughters at night. She enjoyed a close relationship with her parents-in-law Alvin and Ann Schott and was thought of as a daughter by them. Mary Alice loved music (especially Sawyer Brown concerts) and played the alto sax. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Sarah Herem, her grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and a cousin. She is survived by her husband Archie Schott and two daughters Sarah and Denise of Bozeman; two brothers, Larry (Connie) Herem of Jensen, UT, and Norman (Mychelle) Herem of Lehi, UT; four sisters, Ann (Gordon) Parker of Absarokee, Beverly Herem and Rosemarie Herem of West Jordan, UT, and Loretta Herem of Provo, UT; her father- and mother-in-law Alvin and Ann Schott of Columbus, MT; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A viewing will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel, 300 Highland Blvd, Bozeman, MT, on Wednesday, May 7, from 4 p.m. -5 p.m. and on Thursday, May 8 at the Reedpoint Evangelical Church from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the Reedpoint Evangelical Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 8 with burial following at the Reedpoint cemetery.
