Marvin Orlando Rickett

June 3, 1928 — October 2, 2012

M.O. “Marvin” Rickett, 84, of Livingston, formerly of Missoula, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012. He was born on June 3, 1928 at the family ranch in Sidney, MT to David Edward and Susie Louise (Schlemben) Rickett. He graduated from Sidney high school in 1945 and worked on the family ranch until he served an apprenticeship as an electrician. He married Lodine Anderson in Rosebud County on June 6, 1952 and made their home in Miles City, where their 3 daughters, Kathy, Carol, and Debra were born. They moved from Miles City to Bozeman, when he drove truck for Snow Boy Food Service Distribution Co. The family moved to Livingston, while he drove for Lewis Sales Co. The couple later divorced. Marvin moved to Missoula, where he met and married Marion J. Dowson on April 1 1967. In Missoula he worked in road construction, and owned a small engine repair shop. The couple divorced in about 1980. Marvin met Alice Elizabeth Baldry at a Missoula square dancing club in 1983, and they married in July of 1984 in Coeur d’ alene, ID. They divorced in 2008. He loved the great outdoors of Montana and was passionate about camping, hunting and fishing, he also enjoyed pinochle, chess and cribbage. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Barbara Klakken and Etta Jaeger, his brother, Charles Rickett, granddaughter Elecia Nead, and step son Rick McPhee. Survivors include his 3 daughters Kathy (Claud) Nead, Carol Anderson and Debra Rickett all of Livingston, step son, Ron McPhee of Bozeman, and step daughters, Rita Dowdy, and Rachelle McPhee in Missoula. Including his Missoula family, he had 21 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his three brothers Edwin (Jeannie) Rickett of Basin, WY, David Rickett of Waukesha, WI, William “Billy” Rickett of Spokane, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. Memorials may be made in his name to: Pat Robertson’s 700 Club @ CBN, or the senior centers in Missoula or Livingston.
