Marion Conboy Kerr was born November 4, 1916 in East Orange , New Jersey and died on December 18, 2007 in Bozeman, Montana. She was one of three sisters, daughters of Martin and Bertha Conboy. Her father, Martin Conboy, was the Attorney General for the South District of New York, appointed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Her early years were spent in Riverdale, New York and she was educated at various Catholic schools, always attending with her identical twin sister, Connie. She and her sister went to a summer camp called, Tegawitha and memories of that remained for many years, much to her daughters delight. She attended college at Manhattanville in New York and was sent abroad to Switzerland at one point. Marion had an interest in nursing and took training with the Red Cross which she put to use during World War II. All changed when she met handsome John Duncan Kerr and they married on June 16, 1945 while he was serving in the Navy. Their first home was in Tarrytown, New York and two daughters, Connie and Patty were born there. John was working for Bethlehem Steel then and they moved to Sparrows Point, Maryland. Marion lost her third child there. In 1955, the family moved, via ship, to Nassau, Bahamas, where Bethlehem Steel had another office and John Duncan Kerr was born there in 1957. Marion and John and the family moved back to New York in 1959 to Briarcliff Manor where they resided until 1988. John retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1979 and by 1988 they were ready to move west and join daughters Connie and Patty who had made their homes in Bozeman and Belgrade. They found a home on Coulee Drive where they lived until 2005 when ill health forced a move. Marion had been living at Birchwood Assisted Living until the time of her death. Her passions of recent years had been Bingo and Bridge and as always her faith and devotion to her church. Her family will always remember her for her devotion to the Roman Catholic Church and her strong personality keeping life on #8220;her terms#8221; which included a current driver#8217;s license. Marion is survived by her husband John of Mountain View Care Center in Bozeman, Daughters, Connie (Allan) Lien, and Patty Norton; son John Duncan Kerr (Cheryl) of Laurel, Maryland; and two grandchildren, Elisabeth and Alexander of Laurel, Maryland. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday December 27, 2007 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 220 W. Main Street in Bozeman, Montana. In lieu of flowers donations to any catholic charity may be made. Online condolences may be made to www.dahlcares.com.
