Louis Nathaniel Dixon Jr.

Louis Nathaniel Dixon Jr. passed away May 21, 2014. He was born June 26, 1920 in Kansas to Louis and Ola (Depew) Dixon. He grew up with one brother, Ralph J. Dixon Louis was a welder at Kaiser Shipyards in Portland, Oregon during World War II (1944-1945) and then an Auto Mechanic after the war for a brief period (1946). He worked for Northwest Natural Gas Co. (1946–1985) in Portland, OR, Albany, OR and Hillsboro, OR. He began as a Serviceman and eventually was promoted to position of Field Supervisor/Zone Manager. He started an appliance store business with his brother, Action Gas Appliances in Portland, OR, then sold it. He became the Washington County Oregon Reserve Deputy Sheriff after his retirement from NNG. He was also a Ham radio operator who taught classes on how to operate a ham radio and secure an operator license. Louis was a square dancer and later a square & round dance caller. He was an Airstream travel trailer owner who travelled throughout the USA, Mexico and Canada. He enjoyed playing poker, canasta, rummy and other card games. He was able to fix anything that needed repair and almost never called service providers to repair appliances or anything else. Louis was a member of the Knights of Columbus for years and was active in his local Catholic Church. He was married to Margaret Eleanor Dixon from 1941 until her death in 1997 and was married to Geri Dixon from 1998 until his death. Louis is survived by his children, Jim, Carol, Sue and Kathy; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
