Lloyd Leo Lemiux

Lloyd Leo Lemieux, 89, of Bozeman, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Lloyd was born on June 4, 1926 on a farm homesteaded by his grandfather, James Lemieux, near Poplar, Montana. His parents were Leo Alfonse Lemieux and Pauline Marie Strommer Lemieux. As a young man he served our country during WWII as a member of the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre. After returning from the war, Lloyd spent time in Minneapolis and graduated from Dunwoody Institute. He returned to eastern Montana where he worked for the Rural Electrification Administration bringing electric power to the region. Lloyd was a farmer, rancher, and businessman in several communities around the state. Among the more well known businesses he owned in the past were the Stockman’s Bar in Wolf Point, MT and several businesses in the Bozeman area, including the Rocking R Bar, Lake Glass, and King Arthur’s Trailer Park. Lloyd enjoyed outdoor activities and spent many summers fishing and camping at Canyon Ferry near Townsend, MT.



Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Joan Lemieux and niece Kimberly Lopach Gagnon; his survivors include two sons: Kendall Lemieux of Bozeman, Troy Lemieux of Hamden, CT; daughter Faye Lemieux of Chepachet, RI; his sister, LaVonne Lopach and nephew Michael Lopach of Scottsdale, AZ. Grandchildren include Afton Matthews of Norwich, CT, Keenan and Kylie Baier of Chepachet, RI, Emma and Thomas Lemieux of Hamden, CT, and a great-grandchild, Harlan Matthews, of Norwich CT.



Cremation has taken place; private family services will be held later in the spring.
