Lloyd Blaker, born in Butler, Indiana, on February 20, 1918, passed away on August 25th, 2014. He was a resident of Highgate Senior Living in Bozeman, Montana. He is survived by his children: Karma (Jim) Nelson of Bozeman, Montana; Jerry (Nancy) Blaker of Spring, Texas; Margery (Ronald) McIlwain of Rensselaer, Indiana, and twenty-eight grand and great-grand children. Following his graduation from Purdue in 1939, with a degree in horticulture, he worked in Central America and married his wife of sixty-one years, Barbara Gibbs. He was a Second Lieutenant in WWII, attached to Patton’s Third Army in the Engineering Corps. After the war, he spent the next sixty years, owning and operating floral and gift stores in Marion, Indiana, and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Lloyd, Barbara and business partner, Max Bryant, spent many enjoyable winters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where they bought Mexican antiques and furniture for resale in Lloyd’s of Gatlinburg. Lloyd always had a passion for birds of all kinds, flowers, plants and travelling (especially cruises). He was an active trader in the stock market until the day he died. After retirement and death of his wife, he moved to Bozeman, Montana. He was preceded in death by his sister Marguerite Sharp and his wife, Barbara.
