Lee Roy Weiss

January 5, 1956 — July 5, 2023

Lee Weiss, 67, of Cocoa Beach, FL, passed away suddenly on July 5, 2023, at his beloved son’s home in Bozeman.

Dad was English. He was quite proud of that. He was born in London, England, on January 5, 1956, to Gilbert Weiss and Doreen Hill. Gilbert was an American airman stationed in England who met and fell instantly in love with Doreen. The two had a whirlwind romance that produced my best buddie through my childhood, my dad.

My dad was brought up in the mean streets of north London. He grew up a city kid with all the adventures someone his age could have in 1970s London. He always spoke fondly of those days and I’m sure would like to have gone back and relived them. He always spoke of friends he had from those days that he would tell stories about. He had a large extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, and grandparents. He cherished them for the remainder of his life.

Dad went to Israel in 1978 and met Leena Sarkisilta while on kabuhtz. He lived in London, and she lived in Imatra, Finland. They would marry that year and soon after have a child, Thomas. They moved from England to Finland to Sweden and then finally New York. Mom was a doctor, and dad was the night manager at the Hotel Syracuse. The family grew with the addition of another son, Eric. The family also moved around some, from New York to Florida and back and forth again.

Dad loved his family. He cherished the time he got to spend with the ones he loved. He enjoyed movies and traveling. He was particularly proud that his son Eric got accepted into Harvard grad school.

Dad we will forever miss you. You are loved beyond words.
