Lance Benson, 51, of Bozeman, passed away on August 11, 2011. He was born on January 18, 1960 to Allan (Wayne) and Janice Rae (Jenkins) Benson. Lance grew up in Calgary and graduated from E.P. Scarlet High School where he was a member of the Danish Club. He toured 6 countries in Europe with Viking Soccer. He was an outstanding athlete and was offered scholarships to several schools for Soccer, Basketball and Volleyball. He attended Olds College, the University of Calgary and Montana State University. Lance met and married Cheryl Benson. To their union was born Erik and Taryn. They later divorced. Lance moved back to Bozeman in 2003 where he enjoyed his passion for fishing and hunting. He was an outgoing person who never met a stranger. Lance was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Rae Jenkins, and step brother Ian Merrick. He is survived by his children; Erik and Taryn, his parents; Allan #8220;Wayne#8221; and Connie Benson of Calgary, Alberta Canada, sister; Lindi Speager of Sexsmith, Alberta, Canada, and step-brother; Colin Merrick, of Calgary, step-sister; Lonna Crosta of Phoenix, AZ, as well as lots of nieces and nephews in Bozeman, Montana. There will be a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Dahl Funeral and Cremation Service.
