Keith Edwin Gilbert, 55, of Belgrade lost his brave battle with pancreatic cancer May 14, 2013. He fought this terrible disease with amazing strength and courage. He was born May 9, 1958 to Bob and Dee Gilbert in Billings, MT. His youth was spent in Roundup, MT, Gillette, WY, Williston, ND and Glendive, MT; spending time with his grandparents Gladys and Orin Hazelton in Roundup for summer vacations and holidays. He grew up very close to his sister Suzanne and they were best friends. He graduated from Billings Vo-Tech at the top of his class in 1985, specializing in HVAC (heating and air conditioning). He met his soul mate Brenda on April 1st, 1990; they were married a few weeks later on May 5th. At the onset of his illness he was employed at Wheat Montana. “Good People” he called them, the owners and coworkers there. They were incredibly supportive of him and his family during his illness. As an avid hunter and fisherman, Keith never missed the opportunity to get the “Big One” with his son Cody, even during treatment of cancer; he was out there doing what he loved one last time. Keith was a man of outstanding knowledge, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t build, fix or create… Once you met Keith, you never forgot him; he was that kind of man. Keith’s heart was solid gold; he would help anyone, at any time. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors include his wife Brenda of Belgrade; sons Cody and Keith; daughter Stacey, and many grandchildren; his parents Bob and Dee of Sidney, MT; sister Suzanne George of Bozeman; brother Rob (Deb) of Sidney, MT; a niece and 4 nephews. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. Keith would ask that you be there for Brenda and Cody, as they were the most important people in his life.
