Julia Ann Wirtz

Julia Ann Hepburn Wirtz, 87 of Bozeman, passed away Thursday October 15. She was born September 17, 1928 in New Haven, Connecticut, to William and Helen (Bridget) Hepburn.

Julia graduated from St. John’s High School in 1945. She studied at Sacred Heart Junior College and received her degree from Mount Saint Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas in 1949. She moved to Outlook, Montana, where she taught multiple disciplines to high school and upper-elementary students.

She married Lewis Wirtz September 13, 1952 in Decatur, Georgia. Julia and Lewis had nine children. She enjoyed reading, wildflower field trips, looking at maps, cooking and family gatherings especially floating the Madison River.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Joseph, brother William Hepburn, and her grandchildren Cedric and Richard Cancio. She is survived by her children: Tony (Elsa) Wirtz of Virginia Beach, VA; Lucy (Bill) Frank of Three Forks, MT; Don Wirtz (Carol Kunda) of Bozeman, MT; Allen (Donna) Wirtz of Marysville, WA; Charles (Ellen) Wirtz of Tualatin, OR; Maurice (Scarlett) Wirtz of Bozeman, MT; Helen (Tom) Beausoleil of Bozeman, MT and Catherine Wirtz (Robert Buchholz) of Three Forks, MT; her siblings Mary (Victor) Hepburn of Brattleboro, VT; Catherine Hepburn of Townsend, VT; Lucy Johnson of Alexandria, VA; Andy (Alice) Hepburn of Canton, GA; sister-in-law Fran Hepburn of Bristol, TN; 21 grand children and many wonderful great-grandchildren including one on the way.

Visitation to start Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A vigil service will take place Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel, with Funeral Mass at Resurrection Parish Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
