Joyce Elaine Kolwyck, 74, of Bozeman passed away Friday, March 4, 2011. She was born May 16, 1936 in Great Falls to Rico and Jean Balzarini. On May 21, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, William #8220;Bill#8221; Kolwyck in Ft. Shaw. The couple lived in Conrad before moving to Bozeman in 1959. Joyce ran a daycare in the 70's and in 1980, she went to work for United Way, retiring in 1998. She loved the organization, its' mission and community involvement. Joyce loved playing cards. She was a longtime member of a bridge group and a poker group. She was a proud and active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she was also a Forester for many years. She was very active in the Republican Women#8217;s Group and volunteered for Republican politics. She loved to cook and entertain. She was a great pianist, playing for United Commercial Travelers all over the country, as well as many weddings and other social functions . Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, and her brother, Sarge. Survivors include her sister, Marie Trent of Baltimore, MD; and her children, Mark (Mary) Kolwyck of Fallon, NV, Mary Kim (Steve) Deffe of Ketchum, ID, Joe (Laurie) Kolwyck of Bozeman, and Susie (Brad) Moore of Hailey, ID; 9 beloved grandchildren, Shannon (Bobbie) Smith, Jed, Jake, Madie, Drew, Annie, Sydney, Quinn, and Claire; and 3 great-grandchildren. Memorials in Joyce#8217;s name may be made to Greater Gallatin United Way, 945 Technology Blvd, Bozeman, MT 59718. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Mountain View Care Center for the amazing care she received. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Bozeman Catholic Community Center. Private family interment will take place at the Sun River Cemetery.
