Jon Wade Mcdonald

December 25, 1944 — December 4, 2022

Jon Wade McDonald was born and raised in Bozeman, Montana, for 77 years. On Sunday, December 4th, 2022, he passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, from COPD.


Wade belonged to numerous clubs including Bozeman Pacers Car Club, Livingston Bros. Motorcycle Club, NRA, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Post #326. He was a loyal friend, moral in his values, generous in his giving, and a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.


Wade enjoyed baseball, fly fishing, hunting (bird, deer, elk), drag racing (¼ mile), flat track motorcycle racing, motorcycle hill climbs, trap shooting, stock car racing, and pool. He enjoyed classic cars and car shows, having owned a 1959 Corvette. Wade was a supporter of various community organizations, having been involved in Meals on Wheels, Bozeman Senior Center, Gallatin Valley Food Bank, and Montana’s Adopt A Highway Program (Hwy 191).


Wade is survived by his five children, Somer Nagel, Luke McDonald, Cameron McDonald, Sean Allen, and Heather Allen; three sisters, Nikki Richardson, Cathy Griffith, and Calli Griffel; half-brother, Michael McDonald; former wife and caretaker, Linda McDonald; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Jennie Callison Letchworth; grandfathers, Theodore John Sander and John W. McDonald; grandmothers, Ruby Haysel Letchworth Sander and Eva Gingras McDonald; father, Arthur John McDonald; mother, Cathryn Virginia McDonald; sister, Patsy Jill Martin; uncles, John William McDonald and Allan J. McDonald; and aunts, Bonnie Jo Wischmann and Juanita Vollmer.


A funeral service for Wade will take place Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service, 300 Highland Boulevard, Bozeman. Burial at Sunset Hills Cemetery will immediately follow the service. The family invites all to a reception to continue celebrating Wade’s life at 1:00 p.m. at the Filling Station, 2005 N. Rouse Ave, Bozeman. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please donate to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital, Meals On Wheels, or The Cody Dieruf Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis.
