John Lester Schlegel

John Schlegel, 68, of Manhattan, MT, passed away at his home August 4, 2024 with family at his side.

John was born in Bozeman March 11, 1956, one of three children to Charles and MaryLou (Lester) Schlegel. Shortly after graduating from Bozeman High School, John spent a bit of time in Saudi Arabia working in a civil service capacity supporting the United States armed forces. Upon returning home, John spent the majority of his working years as a self-employed carpenter, working for several local contractors and developers. When he wasn’t working, John enjoyed recreational woodworking, muscle cars, and riding his Harley. Those who knew John well would agree on his reputation of being reliable, humble, and having a big heart.

John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children, Amanda and Adam (Milissa) Schlegel; brothers, Charlie and Michael; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service, 300 Highland Blvd., Bozeman. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in John’s memory to a charity of your choosing.
