John "Jack" Tkach

November 29, 1942 — April 2, 2023

John "Jack" Tkach, M.S., M.D.

Dr. John Tkach, 80, of Bozeman, MT, passed peacefully on April 2, 2023. Known by most as “Jack”, he was born in Pennsylvania in a hospital that was built by his grandfather, also a physician and surgeon. His father, Dr. Walter Tkach, was the White House physician for Presidents Eisenhower and Nixon. Little Jackie (as he was affectionately called) spent many hours in the White House and often slept on the floor, under his father's office desk, while his dad took care of patients. This, among other things, inspired Jack to become a physician and led to a long and successful career. In 1975, after completing his dermatology residency, he and his former wife, Karen, decided to move to Bozeman and open the Bozeman Skin Clinic. They raised two sons, Nick and Aleks, and Jack had a successful medical practice for 45 years. He enjoyed every patient that came into his office and the Gallatin County community will miss this brilliant doctor. He is survived by his former spouse, two sons, and three grandchildren. A memorial service in Jack’s honor will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023, 2:00 PM, at Dahl Funeral and Cremation Service, 300 Highland Blvd., in Bozeman. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jack’s memory to the Bozeman Senior Center, 807 N. Tracy, Bozeman, MT, 59715. “Being brilliant is no protection against being wrong.” – Dr. John Tkach
