Joan Cecelia Cullen Wagner

Joan Cecelia Cullen Wagner, passed away on June 19th at Highgate Senior Living in Bozeman, Montana. Joan was born on May 12, 1934 in Bozeman, MT. She spent nearly all of her life in Montana, with a brief stay at the University of St. Mary’s in Leavenworth, KS to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Education and time on the East Coast in Washington, D.C., earning her Master’s in Social Work.



On June 23, 1962, Joan married the love of her life, Walt “Bud” Wagner. Over the years, they raised three children, Gregg, Joe and Mary and built a life on a foundation of love. Together, they began their adventure as school teachers in Jordan, MT. Joan worked to help people throughout her life, as a Guidance Counselor in Bigfork and in Missoula and as a Hospice social worker throughout the lower Flathead Valley.



Her family, friends, faith and cooking were just a few of her passions. Joan was a true Montana girl, she loved the mountains and beauty all around. She loved music and dancing and played the piano beautifully. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and was a determined woman in all aspects of her life.



Joan is survived by her three children and their families - Gregg and Sandi, children Greer and Henry; Joe and Mia – children Sarah and Jill and Mary and Brent – children Sydney and Cullen.



Joan is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walt Wagner, her parents, Cliff and Cecelia Cullen, and much of her extended family.



Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27th at 11:00am at Holy Rosary Parish, followed by inurnment, and a luncheon at the church.
