Janet Armstrong

Janet L. Armstrong, 69, of Bozeman, passed away March 13, 2008 at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. She was born September 7, 1938 in Great Falls, MT. She was raised and educated on the Fairfield Bench. Janet graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor#8217;s Degree in Nursing. She married Dr. Douglas A. Armstrong on July 23, 1960 at St. Paul#8217;s Lutheran Church in Greenfield, MT. Together, they raised two children, Dawn El and Darin. Doug and Janet had a veterinary practice on the Fairfield Bench from 1962 to 1972. Following that, they lived in Denver, Colorado, West Chester, Pennsylvania, Fairfield, Montana, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Manitou Springs, Colorado. During the numerous moves in her life, Jan always created a beautiful home. She loved interior design, was a gracious host, and made an attractive, peaceful environment to share with her family and friends. In 1993 Jan moved to Bozeman and immediately immersed herself in the community. She was involved in Gallatin Valley Newcomers, the Red Cross, the Museum of the Rockies, and her passion - the Bozeman Symphony. In 2006, she was honored to receive the Montana Association of Symphony Orchestras#8217; Volunteer Leadership Award. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Viola Pearson, her brother, Darrell Pearson, and her adopted daughter Nieta Ramos. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Dawn El and James Hampton of Atwood, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law Darin and Lori Armstrong of Omaha, Nebraska; son-in-law Tony Ramos of Swaziland; grandchildren Blake and Sofia Hampton, Elizabeth and Katherine Armstrong, and Claudia and Katya Ramos. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2008 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. From early childhood, music was always a special part of her life. She played the drums in a family band and had the honor of playing in the Rose Parade as a teenager. In her honor, memorials may be made to the Bozeman Symphony, 1822W. Lincoln St, Bozeman, MT 59715.
