James Walter Cusick, born November 18, 1924, a devoted husband and family man, retired college professor, and lifelong enthusiast for the state of Montana, fishing and all things Irish, passed away August 23, 2007. He was the son of Catherine (Cassie) and Walter Cusick who lived in Laurel, Montana. His first job was in the Roundhouse for the Northern Pacific Railroad. He served during World War II. He was a graduate of MSU in Bozeman, MT, and received his Ph.D. from the Univ. of MN. He taught in the education department at MSU from 1957-1961, and was instrumental in the education department at CSUF from its inception until his retirement in 1995. For over 20 years, Jim served as executive secretary, president, or on the board of directors of the California Council on the Education of Teachers. He was a devout and active member of St. Joseph#8217;s parish in Placentia for 45 years. Jim#8217;s memory is cherished by his wife of 55 years Ruth, and children Cassie, Jimmer, Connie, Mary, and Mike, and 7 grandchildren. Memorial donations are suggested to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and to Fairview Developmental Center in Costa Mesa CA. Funeral Services were held in California. A Commital Service will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bozeman, on Tuesday Sept 5, 2007, at 12:00 Noon, with Fr. Leo Proxel officiating. Family and friends will gather at the Dahl Funeral Chapel at 11:00AM.
