James Darrell Davis

January 18, 1949 — November 8, 2020

Butch passed away to be with our Lord on November 8, 2020 due to contracting COVID 19, and only his wife Julie Anna could be by his side during the last few hours of his life here on earth.

Butch was born on January 18, 1949 to his beloved parents Kathleen Louise Brown and Gordon Darrell Davis in Knoxville, TN.

He served in the United States Navy from 1969 and was honorably discharged in May 1975. During his service in the Vietnam Campaign, he was assigned duty on the Aircraft Carrier, USS Shangri La CVA -38. He was very proud to serve his country and he remained a true patriot until he left this earth.

Butch enjoyed being a member of different Motorcycle Association’s to include: East Tennessee Gold Wing Precision Drill Team, GWRRA, CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) and Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club, whose mission is the advocacy for the accountability of our POW and MIA service members.

Regardless of his motorcycle ride be it Goldwing, Valkyrie, Harley Davidson or Indian he enjoyed riding for many years. He always enjoyed Karaoke regardless of where he lived in Tennessee, Maryland, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Montana - he was there when the doors were open to sing his favorite songs and entertain us.

Butch chose Montana as his final home and resting place. His decision can best be described by a quote from John Steinbeck: “I’m in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection. But with Montana it is love. And it is difficult to analyze love when you are in it.”

He is survived by his wife Julie Anna, his son Christopher Davis, brother and sister-in-law Roger and Marsha Davis, sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Timothy Wise and sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and John Rose. Also, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who he also dearly loved.

There will be a Graveside Service 3:30PM Monday, May 24, 2021 at Sunset Hills Cemetery followed by a Reception at the American Legion.

Rest in Peace our beloved Butch and ride on our singing Cowboy ride on!
