James 'Bud' Albert Paulas

James Albert Paulas, known as Bud, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014, at the Bridger Health Care Community in Bozeman, after a long battle with cancer. Family and friends were with him in his last moments of life. Bud was born on July 6, 1933 in Reno, Nevada, the son of Paul and Muriel (Dolan) Paulas. He left Fremont High School in Oakland, California to join the Marine Corp at age seventeen, serving in Alaska and Japan. Bud was a member of IBEW Local 302 in Martinez, California, working for Contra Costa Electric Company. He moved to Gallatin County, MT in 1984 when he retired. Bud’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, drag racing, gun smithing, and volunteering for Tiny Tails K-9 Rescue in Manhattan, MT. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Muriel Paulas. Survivors include: his wife, Mona (Faulkner) Paulas of Manhattan, MT; two daughters, Diana (Richard) Paulas Stafford of Manhattan, MT and Jamie (Richard) Brouwer of Manhattan, MT; three grandchildren, James (Jamie) Stafford of Sheridan, MT, Monique (Chris) Voigt of Billings, MT, and Brian Combs of Bozeman, MT; three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Marlea Stafford of Sheridan, MT and Samuel Voigt of Billings, MT. A celebration of Bud’s life will be held by his family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bud’s name to Tiny Tails K-9 Rescue, P.O. Box 257, Manhattan, MT 59741.
