Jackie O. Bunting born January 27, 1938 in Poquoson, Virginia to Sellie T. Bunting and Viola E. Bunting passed away November 14, 2020 in Bozeman, Montana after a long fight with Alzheimer's disease. There will be a private Memorial service in Bozeman, and a burial service for his ashes at a later date in Poquoson, Virginia.
He is predeceased in death by his parents and older brother, Joseph K. Bunting.
Survived by his wife of 59 years Jane F. Bunting of Bozeman, Montana. He is survived by a daughter Dr. Michelle K. Howard (Scott) of Deer Lodge, Montana, a son Rad T. Bunting of Bozeman, Montana and three grandchildren Cheyenne Corbin, Cody Corbin, and Kaycee Corbin of Deer Lodge, Montana. He is also survived by a brother, Jerry E. Bunting of Swansboro, North Carolina and brother-in-law, Henry L. Freeman (Esther) of Poquoson, Virginia and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was a graduate of Poquoson High School and a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Poquoson, Virginia. He went on to receive a bachelor’s and master’s Degrees in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Virginia and a PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University. Jack had a wonderful and rewarding career working at Lockheed Martin in Denver. After retiring, he enjoyed working with his friends in creating his new technology.
Jack was an avid skier and tried to play golf. He always enjoyed being on the mountain with friends and family and cherished so many memories from the yearly ski trips with family and friends to many resorts across the west. After retiring, he continued skiing with The Ski Meisters of Winter Park Resort well into his seventies. He enjoyed traveling around the United States in our motor home, often with friends traveling with us. He did many international trips around the world with his work and for pleasure which was something that he enjoyed.
