Herb Kelsey was born on October 12, 1949, in Bend, Oregon. He passed away peacefully Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the age of 72.
After being raised by Frances and Leo Kelsey in Bridger, Montana, he graduated high school and attended college at what is now MSU-Bozeman.
Herb married his wife of 49 years, Jackie Frank, on April 24, 1972, and built a life that wove his love of family and farming with banking and business. Herb and Jack’s dream of having land and critters eventually took them out of Carbon County to Deer Lodge, Montana where they purchased acreage and enjoyed farming and ranching. Herb was one of the hardest workers we all knew, but he always made time for family. Family came first, and the value and legacy of family will carry on through his three children and his grandchildren.
Next to Herb’s devotion to his wife Jack, Herb doted on his grandchildren. Some memories include four-wheeler rides, trips to Philipsburg, Montana for ice cream or to the candy store, Pork Chop John’s sandwiches, Fairmont Hot Springs and Georgetown Lake vacations are among the many. Herb was an easy man to love and respect, and anyone who knew him knows they are better people because of it.
After retiring, Herb resided with his wife Jack in Belgrade, Montana. He is survived by his wife, three children, and nine grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by many.
A Funeral Service for Herb will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, January 7th, at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service, Bozeman, Montana; livestreamed at https://youtu.be/4NJkM3Bb_cQ. Herb will then be laid to rest in the Bridger Cemetery alongside his parents following the funeral service.
