Gregory B. Stout of Manhattan, MT died Friday, May 28, 2021, at a care facility. He was born November 1, 1926, to Charles and Re Anna Stout. He was the youngest of eight children. His parents were original homesteaders of the Huntley Project. He grew up on the family farm in Ballantine and graduated from Huntley Project High School in 1944. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and was honorably discharged after two years of service. After his return, he worked on the family farm. After it was sold, he worked several jobs. He drove a milk truck for Worden Creamery, was a manager of cattle at Huntley Experiment Station, drove a bulk truck for Tiger Tom and helped his brother run that business. He was also a custodian at HP elementary school and helped install sprinkler systems in the Manhattan area. He could repair almost anything, sometimes he’d even invent things to do his work. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and sometimes golf.
In 1948 he married Eileen Stromme and together they had two children. After Eileen’s passing, he married Ramona Miller in 1978. They moved to Manhattan when Ramona took the superintendent job there.
Greg is preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen, and all of his siblings; Robert “Bob”, Betty, Ruth, William “Bill”, Alene, James “Jim” and Owen.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Stout of Belgrade, MT; daughter, Sheryl Stout of Custer, MT; son, Bill (Sandi) Stout of Lewiston, ID; granddaughter, Erin (Josh) Luscombe of Juliaetta, ID; great-grandson Kayne Lesnet and several nieces and nephews who visited often.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service Tribute Center with a reception immediately following. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Pleasant View Cemetery in Ballantine, MT.
