Gordon Charles (Butch) Lehmann, 72, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on October 10, 2024, while at home in Gallatin Gateway, Montana, after bravely fighting heart failure.
Born in Gaylord, Michigan to Clarence and Rose (nee Masonovich) Lehmann, Gordon worked alongside his parents at their family’s restaurant and developed a passion for cooking. Gordon graduated from Gaylord High School in 1970, where he excelled in many sports, including baseball and football. He walked on the Central Michigan University football team and earned a full scholarship.
Gordon met the love of his life, Peggy (nee Groeschell) in December 1977, and he declared, “I just met the woman I’m going to marry.” On May 27, 1978, Gordon and Peggy began their 46-year journey as husband and wife. Gordon’s whole life revolved around his love for the outdoors. He was a certified, cross-country ski instructor and guide, a ski patrolman and EMT, and a Montana licensed fly-fishing guide. Gordon loved to hike, ride horses, hunt in the mountains, and spend time with his dogs in his duck blind. Gordon’s career in the sporting goods industry spanned almost 40 years. He retired in 2017.
In 2011, Gordon suffered a near fatal heart arrest, which led to the creation of a successful bystander CPR educational program which is now in 46 states.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Lehmann, his brother Gary (Dana), numerous siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gordon is predeceased by his parents (Clarence & Rose) and his brother, Frank Karwoski.
